Our vision and dream for the Rose House is to be a downtown space for weddings and events. That is what we started out doing, it is what we know how to do, and what we LOVE doing. But then COVID came, and we were unable to do what we do best, there were limits on how many were allowed in our space, there was fear on being out in groups, and weddings were cancelled. We had to find something else to do.

Just for fun, we tried it all. At first it was just pizza, and it was great, it brought in a little business, and we enjoyed it. It was all curbside, so there was minimal needs inside the building, we could focus in the kitchen. Then we decided to experiment with baking, by May 2020 we were ready for you to try our donuts, at first it was just through our doorway, then with time you were able to come into our gift shop. This was all great since these times were so unique, there were no events, and it was something we enjoyed doing to make people happy.

In reality we are a wedding and event venue, with a small gift shop. But, with everything on hold, once a week we were a pizza carry out shop, and a doughnut shop.

When the 2021 wedding season started we thought we could do it all, and for a short while we tried. But soon we realized we couldn’t focus and we were exhausted. Before we dropped all the balls we had in the air we knew we needed to put some down. We just can’t be a wedding and event space, pizza shop, doughnut shop, and gift shop. It’s too much, and it really doesn’t work well together.

It was around this crazy time that we welcomed Chef Cat to our team, she is an amazing chef who loves event catering. Since we are a event space, an event food chef is what makes sense. We definitely can’t allow for too many cooks in the kitchen. We will gladly step aside to let Chef Cat work her magic with amazing event food, allowing us to provide in house catering and food to the public on Wednesdays in our gift shop. We are still making sweets for our gift shop and have hot soups for sale in these cold months, our hours are Wed-Friday 10:00-2:00.

We also have space for club and business meetings during the week, as well as events, and of course weddings!

We know this may seem disappointing, however, we are certain it is for the better, and we are so excited to be a part of the community in the way we had originally set out to be.
