So I wrote my last post the day before we closed. Now it’s been a few days and I can say it really did happen. I was in shock until it was official. And now, I am at complete peace and excited for what’s to come. On the first day after a few hours I got so tired. I think because I had been so nervous/excited about the upcoming event of it happening, then it happened and it wore me out! I spent the first day walking around, getting to know the space, giving a few tours to some friends, finding the light switches…It was stressful at first, because I was so aware of how much I didn’t know. But going back the second day was much better. It helped to know where the lights were. Slowly I am finding my way around.
There is so much I want to do it’s overwhelming. So I have decided to start in one area I feel I can handle for now. It’s the room called the “Belmont Room” in the 1950’s there was a hotel in the upper level, at that time it was called the Belmont Hotel. I didn’t name the room, but I find it fitting. This room is in the corner of the building, on Strongs Ave and Clark Street. It’s all white, it’s 1200 square feet and it looks nice. Ideally I would like to change the flooring, but it’s not essential so it will wait for the future. After walking around the building several times and learning where things are in general, I decided to nestle in that room for a bit and just get to know that space. The things that are going to take some getting used to for me are the idea of people walking right past the windows, the first 15 people made me jump each time. I am so used to having my yard as a buffer from people getting so close to windows. But I have ideas to change that, and ideas for decorating in general. I am excited! Here is what it looked like on closing day.
The room is rentable right now. If you are looking for a place for a party of 45 or so, this might be the space for you :-) Doing some digging upstairs I found a lot of Christmas decor. I think this week I will start decorating a bit.
Thanks for reading!
